NIN

Nine Inch Nails concert

Yeah, we're just cool like that. We hire sitters and go out to dinner DOWNTOWN. We sit in a trendy restaurant and talk about Bella the entire time. We wait in line at the Target Center to get patted down. We rock out to Boris (opener) and NIN.

Kind of surreal after my morning spent at Madagascar 2. And Bella throwing up in the van on the way home.

Scoopy

Scoopy

Bella picked out "Double Scoop" from the Softies book I got last Christmas. I was very excited that she was showing interest in crafting! We must immediately go buy the supplies!

Bella hung out in the craft room while Scoopy came together and now that he's done, he appears to have been integrated into the softie click in the house. He was told to be "Bear's Mommy" shortly after entering the playroom.

The pattern was pretty easy (although it is marked as challenging). The ruffle pattern piece is wrong--too short by about 50%. But that was an easy fix.

Yay for Scoopy!

Toadstool Rattle

How cute is this little guy? He jingles too.

Toadstool Baby Rattle

Not the quietest knitting project, since you insert the bell after the cap but before knitting the stem. But I had a great time picking out mushroom-y colors and then having Bella help me ball them up (a breeze with my swift/winder).

Toadstool Baby Rattle

I was going to do duplicate-stitch spots on the top, but then I wasn't sure how to start/stop the thread so that a baby wouldn't be able to snag it and pull it out.

I also finished this gorgeous little thing.

Woolly Nest

It's completely out of season, but so pretty. A little felted nest and needle-felted robin eggs. Sooooo cute.

Today I'm home sick with The Crud that is going around work. Brent convinced me that staying home really does everyone a favor, which is what I tell everyone else but never do myself. It is certainly weird here, staying home without Bella. So far, it has been quite expensive, since Christmas shopping is pretty fun in your pajamas from the couch. I also googled best bunny pellets and ended up buying a new 2-level bunny condo. Whoops. Maybe I should step away from the computer now.

Wildflower Sweater

What is that noise? Is that the heavenly angels singing? I believe so. Because I have finally finished a beast of a project, the Wildflower Sweater (Lucinda Guy).

Wildflower Sweater

I started this sweater back in April because I wanted to challenge myself.

Wildflower Sweater

I can't even describe how relieved I am that I'm done. I'd go so far as to say I'm SUPER RELIEVED.

Wildflower Sweater

It is much too big for Bella. So my big planned holiday photo shoot in it needs to be put on hold for, oh say, 2 years. But in the meantime, I am quite excited to make her this. Which I can probably complete in a couple evenings instead of half a year.

Wanna play with me?

Bella is so cute and I love this age and blah blah blah.... But honestly, when it's 10 am and I've already heard, "Will you play with me?" like 4,000 times, I have to remind myself: "Do not freak out. Look how cute she is. Calm the fuck down." And she's still talking, "You be Dora and I'll be Boots. You be Bear being Dora and I'll be Blankie being Boots. K?" Me: "Um, have you seen mommy's coffee?" Bella: "You be Bear being Dora being Diego RESCUING your coffee, and I'll be Elmo being Boots being Baby Jaguar! Let's get Pandy's doctor toys! I'LL BE DR. PEARSON!!"

And I know, in six years she won't want to be caught dead playing with me. Blah blah BLAHBIDDY BLAH. That's what I say to all you experienced parents out there. You know who you are, you "it all goes so fast" women who walk by on the bike path as I'm chasing Bella around the park and birthing myself out of some little tunnel slide for the hundredth time. "These are the best days of your life!" one dewy-eyed g'ma told me.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

Oh excuse me. I know they are just trying to give me some perspective. Which is why I invented the Bella Activity WheelTM!

Activity Wheel

It is chock full of 12 activities that Bella enjoys doing. (Except for putting on clothes, she doesn't enjoy that one, but I snuck it in there anyway). And look, only ONE of them is sitting on the floor playing with mommy [being Bear being Dora having cupcakes made by Dr. Pearson who is really Zoe]!

Bella was very excited about it.

Activity Wheel

And she immediately pointed the arrow at her and mommy sitting on the floor playing with Bear and Blankie.

Activity Wheel

And that is where she always points it. And now, she has proof that it is time for us to sit and play. "Look at THE ARROW! It's pointing at us playing!!"

Must.... remember... best... days... of... life....
